Summary: Oral presentations of projects and other work, whether individual or group, are common in higher education. Objectively evaluating them often poses a challenge for both faculty and students. On the one hand, as faculty, we are not experts in public speaking to objectively recognize and evaluate the success criteria of a presentation. On the other hand, the tools often used encourage subjective assessments from the outset. We will reflect together on strategies and processes that will allow us to evaluate oral presentations more confidently and fairly.
